Events & Film festivals

Upcoming Events is a listing of film festivals and events taking place in our area (roughly the Northwest) and other events of interest to film club members. You won't find some of the largest, best well-known, and most distant festivals here (look in vain for Cannes, Sundance, and San Francisco). For these, see the general article on film festivals and an exhaustive list of festivals all over the world, on Wikipedia.

SIFF Cinema (Seattle), associated with the Seattle International Film Festival, presents independent, classic Hollywood, and foreign films all year 'round.

The Liberty Theater, Dayton, shows foreign and independent films and also presents a classic film series. See their website for the schedule. Directions to Dayton from Richland: E on 182 toward Pasco; turn left just after the Snake River bridge onto 124. Hwy 124 becomes hwy 12. Continue on hwy 12 to Dayton. Approximately 1hr 20 min.

The Carmike Cinema, Kennewick, occasionally shows foreign and independent films. In addition, they are currently showing two series called "Ballet in Cinema" and "Opera in Cinema" which feature a live performance of a ballet or opera followed by an encore performance a few days later. Live performance times vary, depending on the performance location, but the encore performances are all at 7:30pm. For offerings and schedule, see the Carmike Cinema website.

Recent film offerings have included Blue Jasmine, Rust and Bone, Amour, Mud, and others. See their website or Mr. Movie's review in the Friday Tri-City Herald for schedule. Generally, these films have a week-long run only. Mr. Movie's reviews of new Tri-Cities' films are online at the Tri-City Herald site.
